A day among the most beautiful villages of Liguria. You drive along the Tyrrhenian coast, with the Apuane Alps and the famous Carrara marble quarries in the background, to Portovenere: a charming fishermen's village with typical colourful houses.
In Portovenere there is time to visit before boarding the ferry (hop-on hop-off ticket) for a spectacular ride along the Cinque Terre. You can visit one or more villages — Riomaggiore, Manarola, Vernazza, Monterosso — and stop for lunch with pesto, Ligurian focaccia and Cinque Terre wine.
At Monterosso your driver waits for the return to the port. In case of rough sea you can use the train between the villages: in that case you reach Riomaggiore or Manarola by van and the railway station from there.

Practical notes
Portovenere: St Peter’s Church, Doria Castle, Lord Byron’s grotto. The ferry ride depends on sea conditions; the train is used as an alternative. Comfortable shoes recommended.
